The best chance to try XTERRA! Each part of the race was shortened to make an ideal race for XTERRA beginners. Despite of easy and short course, you can still enjoy signature spots of the Championship race course including transition and finish in the historical Prachatice downtown.
Before the race you can put your warm-up stuff into black warm-up bag. Organiser will transport all your stuff to the second transition area, where you can pick it up.
Start of the race is at Kristanovicky Lake, 10 K from Prachatice. Water is clear (with bronze colour) and warm (20-24 Celsius). The sprint race swim course is just one lap of 300 meters in the waters of Kristanovicky Lake. There will also be many live guards to keep the safety of the race. You can swim with or without wetsuit, no restrictions.
Transition Area no.1
The first transition area is located on big meadow upper the lake. It is just few steps from swim start location. Each slot is marked by your race number. You have to put all your stuff into blue gear bag wit Bike gear sign. Organisers will transport your bags with swim gear to the second transition area after the swim leg.
Most of the course copies the main race course. We skip the dangerous downhills and steep climbs to make the race suitable for mountain bike beginners or roadies. The course is still very challenging with one nice longer uphill and last downhill into the center of Prachatice, where the second transition area will be located. There will be one Aid station on the course.
Transition Area no.2
New / old location for the transition area is the Great Square in Prachatice. Every athlete will have his own marked spot in the transition. He will put his running shoes before the race into transition and he will pick-up all his gear after the race from the same place.
The run course is the same for main and sprint races. The competitors of the sprint race run just one lap. First and last part of the course is in the old city center. The middle part is in the wood on slopes of Cerna Hora (hill). This part of the course is more technical, with few steep uphills and downhills. There are also some nice narrow singletrails and a few hundred meters across the field. There will be 3 Aid stations on the course.
