Xterra Czech Takes off in Spindleruv Mlyn
For the first time the Xterra Czech is going to Špindlerův Mlýn on August 7, it is the 4th event of the European Tour 2010 and has 9 year history in the Czech Republic. The world's elite is coming to the Czech highest mountains Krkonoše and will fight for points in a European Cup and also for the qualifing places for the October World Championship in Hawaii.
Start of race is scheduled for noon, when competitors jump into the crystal clear water dam Labská, which is unusually warm this year. Two 500m long rounds will be devided by a short run on the shore, followed by a cycling part. The first few kilometers of the cycle track have a high superelevation and will be a challenging start to this part of the race. A 16 km track leads through the St. Peter's area and competitors will have to complete it twice. The race happening will then move from the dam to the ski resort Svatý Petr where competitors will pass into the next cycle track. The last part of the race is a cross-country run for 10 km that will also have two tracks with a finish in the St. Peter's area.
In addition to world leaders and regular participants in races of all age groups, even complete amateurs can participate fully and start from the same starting line and at the same time so everyone has a chance to succeed. Apart from the main race there is a half-track race also prepared for the amateurs and starts 30 minutes later. EASY shortened race is good mainly for complete beginners who may have to try what is to race in triathlons, will also be attended by some children from Children's Homes.
Also, the final ceremony and party after the race will take place within St. Peter's area and in the later hours the party will move to the center of Špindlerův Mlýn where several bands will be playing. The program will be accompanied by running race for small children and a relay race for the XTERRA course specialists, attended by three-member teams and each member of the team undertakes one discipline. It is therefore a major opportunity for specialists in swimming, cycling and running.
